Chili

Tonight we had chili. It just seems right to fix a big ol' pot of chili when the weather is so cold. I'm definitely NOT a cook . . . lover of all things clean, neat, and ironed - yes . . . someone who knows what they're doing in the kitchen . . . not so much! (thankfully Phillip knew this when he married me!) That being said, my family gets the "back of the Publix Chili Powder package recipe" with an added diced onion.

I love to add sour cream to my bowl, and Phillip adds shredded cheese and hot sauce to his.

What's your chili recipe/add ons?

  3. We love chili at our house too! Sometimes, we like to add black beans, a bit of frozen kernel corn and a tablespoon or two of brown sugar. And, I'm with you on the sour cream.
Your post made me miss Publix in the worst way!

I'm enjoying your blog and you certainly have a beautiful family!

  4. Mmmmm I have a yummy 20-minute chili recipe for you! Jonathan begs me to make it about once a month. :)

    - 1.5 lb ground turkey (very yummy and tender)
    - 1 lg or 2 med onions, diced
    - 1 can of the following: diced tomatoes, dark red kidney beans, and corn (drain beans and corn)
    - 1 jar of marinara pasta sauce of your choosing (Publix brand works just fine or Barilla is good too!).
    - salt, pepper, and chili powder

Sautee ground turkey and onions on med-high until cooked through. Transfer meat and onions to large pot and add diced tomatoes, corn, kidney beans, and pasta sauce. Add salt and pepper and tons (and I mean TONS) of chili powder to taste. The Chili powder is what gives it the flavor. Simmer for 20 minutes and enjoy!
